Campaign Manifesto

Making chocolate like we mean it for 150 years

You don’t make chocolate for 150 years because you like it. You make chocolate for 150 years because you’re over-the-top, up-all-night obsessed with it.

We owe our passion to Etienne Guittard, who, in 1868 traded in his gold rush dreams for an endeavor he valued far more: making chocolate. From there, five generations of Guittards have been getting out of bed every morning (54,750 mornings to be exact) to make chocolate in the best ways we know how.

Passion isn’t always pretty. It’s rarely logical. But it’s what drives us towards perfection. It’s what made us decide to go bean to bar, before it was even a thing. It’s what drives us to care for everything—and everyone—involved in making our chocolate, from protecting the flavor diversity of cocoa to supporting the well-being of the communities who grow cocoa.

150 years isn’t a mark of our longevity. 150 years is a testament to our passion. And passion? Well, that never gets old.

Obsessed with flavor and faithful to craft, we hand select the finest cocoa, pass down time-honored techniques, and tirelessly perfect recipes. The result? Devotion you can taste in every ounce. That dedication set apart our very first cocoa powder in 1868 and still distinguishes our chocolate today. After all, 150 years isn’t a mark of our longevity. It’s a testament to our passion.
